I got home...well as far as Calgary this morning....very, very early this a.m. I started out last night in LAX leaving about 5pm their time...and we were approx 1.5 hrs in the air when we started to get alot of turbulance....Anyway, the captain comes on and says "there is something wrong with one of the engines" and we are heading back to LAX.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN SOMETHING WRONG????. I stared to have flashbacks of bad airplane crashes from TV I have seen..(I obviously dont travel alot). and again the captain said there was too much wind in Calgary and we couldnt land there...so back to LA, where there is no wind...Hmmmm, not getting this at all, but he IS doing the flying so I will believe him. At this time the flight attendant comes on and asks if anyone speaks German, Iranian or Polish...what? There is a lady down the aisle that seems to have chest pain, is flying alone and cannot speak English..There was a Dr. onboard who handled it and the ambulance was waiting for us when we landed. Thank God she was still breathing.

We fly back to LAX and there is a plane waiting for us (I hoped it worked) and they would have to load that plane so I had a few minutes to call MIke in Calgary and tell him where I was. Of course, he already knew because he works for AIr Canada and knew it was delayed, I guess there was winds in Vancouver that grounded some planes there. I grabbed something to eat and made new friends with the people on the plane before we boarded again. They tried to make it up to us by giving us all free bar and a movie ( my superhero exgirlfriend..terrible show). I was sitting with a guy from Calgary and one from New Zealand so we passed the time by telling bad jokes and cheering to our drinks (I figured if I was going down, I didnt want to remember a thing)

As we got closer to Calgary, the pilot said there was still winds, but dont worry the engines were working (and you tell us now???) and the landing would be very, very rough. I thought in my mind....rough? like in sparks and fire engines????. The plane bumped so hard I come up in my seat a few times and then it started to sway back and forth like it was on a pendulum and making all these weird sounds. I kept my eyes wide open and just said to myself..."its just a rollercoaster ride at Disney...it will be over in a few minutes.....look there is stars....oh Christ......"

We got in, we all bolted and by the time we got our baggage it was 2 am...My cab driver got lost and I got to Mikes at 245 am and found the key he left for me...It didnt fit in the side door and at this time I contemplated sleeping in the bushes...It worked in the front door and I snuck in and crashed in my clothes.

I talked to Mike this a.m and he said there was hurricane winds in Van that cancelled alot of flights there. And it was better to turn around with a non-working engine then to have a crash landing here in Calgary........

I really need some coffee.......

Sniffle......Well, this is the last day of my two week holidays....I cant believe its done...I am already being anal, very anal. I have a new "to do" list when I get back. Sick I know. I just cant believe that when I get back, not only do I have to go to work...alot. I gotta pay for this trip. I feel guilty, but I know that I havent had a real holiday for 10 years so I guess I shouldnt feel guilty!! When I get back I have to dive into Christmas right away and get cards done, as well as my mothers list done for her since she is in the nursing home. Ug, back to cold weather too...Its 20 above here, liking it alot.

Well, I had a wonderful time...Raechelle, Jason and Becca were wonderful in taking me to a whole bunch of places..tirelessly.....

Tanya, Rob and the boys showed me around too, and we sat on the beach....and had some very good wine and cosmopolitans, yummy...

Today I got a pedicure and manicure done...across from me was a VERY CA lady....I mean she looked like Tammy Faye Baker with extra plastic surgery done....I thought if she smile to hard I was going to have to do first aid to stop the bleeding. I also treated myself to lunch and saw the movie Babel, very interesting indeed. I walked alot today and spent some time with Tanya.

Well, What great weather...24 above.. celcius that is. Raechelle, Becca and I went to a great crystal shop where I got to buy a crystal and Becca played in a big box of rocks. Of course we had some starbucks coffee where Becca thinks getting a plain milk is something special. Whatever works to make a kid love milk! We toodled around and then did the most wonderful thing.....we all had a nap! I worked on my blog and we picked up Jason at the University where he is a dr. of chemistry.....not my bag, but he has worked on some interesting stuff. Right now its a project on masturbation...not him, but some sort of study. It really cracked me up. I took them all out for some very expensive fine dining....we went to Costco and had hot dogs...what a way to make a red neck girl feel like home. I couldnt stand the excitment when they took me to a Target store...I bought Becca her own purse since she wanted to drag mine around all day. We are off to Disney tommorrow!
